Please read these terms carefully. By accessing or using scan2help — whether as a school, a parent, a staff member, or a bystander who scans a QR tag — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
1. About scan2help
scan2help is a QR-based child safety platform operated by Vidhilekha Lab LLP ("we", "us", "our"), a limited liability partnership registered in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. The platform enables schools to issue QR-coded identification tags to students, allows parents to receive journey notifications via WhatsApp, and enables bystanders to trigger emergency alerts if they find a lost or distressed child.
2. User Roles and Accounts
School Owners and Admins
- The school owner account is created at the time of onboarding and holds full administrative access.
- School admins may create sub-admin accounts for teachers and staff. The school is responsible for all actions taken under its sub-admin accounts.
- Schools must ensure that only authorised personnel are granted access to the platform.
- Account credentials must not be shared. If a staff member leaves, their access must be revoked promptly.
Parents
- Parents register using their WhatsApp phone number and link their child by scanning the child's QR tag.
- Each parent account is tied to a single phone number. A parent may add multiple children to one account.
- Parents are responsible for keeping their contact information current. Outdated numbers may result in missed safety alerts.
Bystanders
- Anyone who scans a student QR tag accesses a public-facing page with limited information (blood group and an alert button only).
- By triggering the Alert Parents button, you confirm that you have found a child who appears to be lost or in distress and that you are acting in good faith to help.
- Misuse of the alert function — including triggering false alarms — is a violation of these terms and may result in legal action.
3. School Responsibilities
Schools agree to:
- Obtain informed parental consent before enrolling any student on the platform.
- Ensure student data entered on the platform is accurate and kept up to date.
- Manage QR tags responsibly — report lost or stolen tags immediately and deactivate them via the admin panel.
- Not use the platform to communicate content that is unrelated to student safety or school operations.
- Ensure staff use the scan function only for legitimate operational purposes.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to access data of students who are not enrolled at your school or not your own child.
- Reverse-engineer, copy, scrape, or otherwise extract data from the platform.
- Attempt to compromise the security or availability of the platform.
- Use the platform for any purpose other than the safety and welfare of enrolled students.
- Submit false, misleading, or inaccurate information.
- Trigger emergency alerts for any purpose other than a genuine child safety concern.
5. Important Limitation — scan2help is a Safety Aid, Not a Guarantee
scan2help is a supplementary safety tool. It is designed to improve communication between schools, parents, and the public in situations involving student safety. It does not replace physical supervision, school safety protocols, or law enforcement. We do not guarantee that alerts will be received, acted upon, or that harm will be prevented. Schools and parents remain primarily responsible for the physical safety and welfare of children.
In particular:
- WhatsApp message delivery depends on network availability and Meta's systems, which are outside our control.
- A QR tag must be physically present and scannable for the system to work. Tags that are hidden, damaged, or lost cannot trigger alerts.
- scan2help does not provide real-time GPS tracking.
- The platform should not be used as the sole or primary safety measure for children with special medical or security needs.
6. Intellectual Property
All software, design, content, and branding associated with scan2help are the intellectual property of Vidhilekha Lab LLP. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission. Schools and parents retain ownership of the student data they enter into the platform.
7. Subscription, Payment and Free Trial
- scan2help is offered on a subscription basis to schools. Pricing is communicated at the time of onboarding.
- New schools are offered a one-month free trial with no credit card required. At the end of the trial, the school may choose to continue or discontinue without obligation.
- If a subscription lapses, school and student data will be retained for 60 days to allow for reactivation, after which it will be deleted.
- Refund requests for subscription fees will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Contact us at info@vidhilekhalab.com.
8. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these terms, misuses the platform, or engages in conduct that puts children at risk. Schools that terminate their subscription may request data export within 30 days of termination. After this period, data will be permanently deleted.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Indian law, Vidhilekha Lab LLP shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the platform, including but not limited to missed alerts, data loss, or harm resulting from a child safety incident. Our total aggregate liability to any user shall not exceed the subscription fees paid by that user in the three months preceding the claim.
10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. We encourage users to first contact us directly to resolve any dispute informally before initiating legal proceedings.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in the platform or applicable law. Material changes will be communicated to registered users via WhatsApp or in-app notification at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
